About Clare McRobbie


Clare is based in Cardiff, South Wales. She has been a teacher for over 25 years. She started her career in Glasgow as a History and Modern Studies teacher. Clare studied at Glasgow University for  a Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Pastoral Care and then became a  Principal Teacher of Guidance. Moving to Wales she took up the post of Head teacher at the Pupil Referral Unit in Merthyr Tydfil and then she moved to Cardiff to take up the post of Head of School-Lower School at Cathays High School. She was seconded as the PSE Advisory Teacher and Healthy Schools Team Leader for Cardiff County Council for two years. For the last 5 years Clare worked at Cathays High School as Head of School-Pupil Development and Wellbeing. 


Over the years, Clare has gained a wealth of experience in Leadership and Management in School Evaluation and Improvement Planning, Teaching and Learning, Inclusion and Wellbeing. She  implemented and embedded whole school initiatives on Personal and Social Education, Welsh Baccalaureate at KS4, Leaning and Teaching,Healthy Schools, Anti-bullying strategies, Restorative Approaches, Schools Council, Challenging Extremism, Pupil Voice and Mindfulness. 

She is also one of the founding members of the GOT team (Getting On Together). The team have developed learning and teaching materials on Understanding and Challenging Extremism for secondary schools. Her expertise has been utilised to train teachers and staff in Wales and England.


In the last few years Clare has undertaken extensive training in Mindfulness in order to offer her creative and innovative skills and experience in training to schools, workplace settings and communities that wish to implement Mindfulness. She resigned from her teaching post in Sept 2015 and is now a freelance Mindfulness teacher.

Clare has taught several  .b Foundations 8-week Mindfulness courses to over 200 members of staff in schools in South Wales and  has delivered over 30  Mindfulness taster sessions to over 300 members of staff.  She has taught the .b mindfulness lessons to young people in  in secondary schools and  6th Form Colleges and  Paws b mindfulness lessons to children in primary schools. Clare has also taught the 8- week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction courses to adults  in the local community.

She meets the requirements of the Good Practice Guidance for Teaching Mindfulness-Based Courses published by the UK Network of Mindfulness-Based Teacher Trainers. She is currently studying a Master’s in Psychological Therapies in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Approaches at Exeter University.


Clare has two adult children and lives in Cardiff. She has been meditating for over 25 years and also practices yoga. She enjoys dancing, vegetarian cooking, cycling and walking.
